International cooperation

Pharmadanmark is affiliated to a number of international organisations and cooperates with sister organisations in, among others, the Nordic countries.

In connection with this cooperation, Pharmadanmark has acceded to professional conventions and the like which have been adopted by the relevant bodies in the various organisations. You will find the conventions under each of the forms of international cooperation.

DIA

The Drug Information Association (DIA) is a non-profit organisation which arranges courses and conferences and provides networking opportunities. DIA's members all work within the pharmaceutical sector, on aspects such as research, development, registration, pharmaceutical safety, and marketing.

Pharmadanmark is involved in cooperation on a Danish DIA Student Chapter. DIA Student Chapter Denmark, together with a DIA Student Chapter at Eastern Michigan University in the US, is set to be the first of its kind. The aim of DIA's Student Chapters is to give students more opportunities to network locally across educational disciplines and to exchange experiences within the DIA's areas of work: a non-profit, multidisciplinary, neutral forum for the exchange of experiences which optimises pharmaceutical research, development and other aspects of the pharmaceutical sector.

EIPG

The European Industrial Pharmacist Group represents around 10 000 industry-employed pharmacists from 18 European countries. EIPG aims to promote pharmacists and maintain their position as key players and workers in the pharmaceutical industry. EIPG aims to influence the development of EU regulations and guidelines in connection with standards for the quality, safety and efficacy of medicinal products. In addition, the association is engaged in ensuring continued development of the specialist skills of pharmacists employed in industry.

Within the context of EIPG, Danish pharmacists employed in industry are represented by both Pharmadanmark and the Association of Industrial Pharmacists (IFF). Both associations are members of EIPG, and both jointly safeguard Danish interests within EIPG.

FIP

Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique (FIP) is the global umbrella organisation for pharmacist and pharmacy associations. It is the international organisation which takes care of the professional and political interests of pharmacists on behalf of member organisations – the national pharmacist and pharmacy associations. For example, FIP is largely responsible for contact with the World Health Organization (WHO) under the UN to increase the focus on pharmaceutical-related problems.

In Denmark, both Pharmadanmark and the Association of Danish Pharmacies are member organisations of FIP. In addition, FIP has individual pharmacists as members in which the Nordic countries – not least Denmark – are characterised by considerable commitment.
